Arson attack at Pierrefonds strip mall

Montreal Police (SPVM) are investigating an alleged arson attack at a strip mall in Pierrefonds overnight – Sunday into Monday.

Calls to 911 reported a fire alarm went off in a business on Saint-Charles Blvd., near Pierrefonds Blvd.

When the police arrived on the scene, firefighters were already onsite.

Incendiary elements were found at the scene, said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

The damage to the building is considered minor and no one was injured as the facility was closed at the time.

The investigation has been transferred to the SPVM’s arson unit.

No arrests have been made so far.

Investigators will analyze the scene and try to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fire.

They will also check for surveillance cameras that may have captured images of the suspect(s).
