Montreal Saint-Laurent Boulevard overpass to remain open this weekend, Route 136 still planned to close

Montreal’s Route 136 will be closed in both directions during the weekend of Feb. 28 as part of a reconstruction plan of the Saint-Urbain Street overpass, according to Transport Quebec.

The closure of the Saint-Laurent Boulevard overpass above Route 136, initially scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, has been postponed to a later date.

Traffic obstructions and management – Route 136:

  • Complete closure of Route 136 westbound, between Panet Street and the entrance from Lucien-L’Allier Street from Friday, February 28, at 11 p.m., until Monday, March 3, at 5 a.m.
    • Traffic will be diverted onto Viger Ave. and Saint-Antoine Street.
  • Complete closure of Route 136 eastbound, between exit no. 4 − Victoria Bridge / R.-Bourassa Boulv./ de la Montagne Street and the entrance from Atateken Rd. from Friday, February 28, at 11:30 p.m., until Monday, March 3, at 5 a.m.
    • Traffic will be diverted onto Saint-Jacques and Saint-Antoine streets.
  • Access ramps will be closed 30 to 60 minutes before the complete closure of Route 136.
    • Detour routes will be marked with signage, with police presence planned to facilitate traffic.

Traffic obstructions and management – Saint-Laurent Boulv. overpass:

  • CANCELLED: Closure of the Saint-Laurent Boulevard overpass between Viger Avenue and Saint-Antoine Street from Saturday, March 1 at 10 p.m., until Sunday, March 2, at 10 a.m.
    • Traffic will be diverted to:
      • Saint-Antoine and Saint-Hubert streets heading north;
      • Viger Ave. and De Bleury Street (near Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle) heading south.
    • Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use the bridge during the closure.

Transport Quebec said that more road work may be postponed in a situation of adverse weather conditions or operational constraints, and are recommending drivers consult Quebec 511 before planning trips.
