Spring break kicks off for many on Friday afternoon and if you’re in the mood for some outdoor fun – lace up your skates and take to the ice at one of the 225 free skating rinks in the city of Montreal, including the refrigerated skating rink in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles. If you don’t have your own skates, you can rent them for a small fee.
“You need to make room on the family agenda for next week because there are so many things to do in Montreal,” said Philippe Sabourin, City of Montreal spokesperson. “Going out, doing some skating, or going sliding with the kids.”

The city has eight nature parks and they’re all free – no entrance fees. “You only have to pay for at the parking. It’s $7 a day so it’s quite inexpensive,” added Sabourin.
There’s the Biodome, Planetarium, Insectarium and the Botanical Garden to visit too.
When it comes to free activities, Sabourin said to turn to your public library. “We’re offering many courses going from dance to electronic games. There’s also les Maison de culture. We’re providing theatre, movies and there’s also circus activities.”
