Laval police officer arrested after allegedly being caught by ‘pedophile hunters’

A Laval police officer was arrested and suspended with pay after allegedly being caught by pedophile hunters, as he was about to meet up with a 15-year-old teenager in a park on Montreal’s South Shore.

The officer allegedly first exchanged with the teen through a dating app. The suspected pedophile is said to have known that they were talking to a 15-year-old teenager and continued the conversation and allegedly exchanging intimate photos between the two.

A meet-up was set to take place at a park on Montreal’s South Shore — the officer did not know that it was set up by a group of pedophile hunters.

Upon arrival, the officer was reportedly greeted by the vigilante group, who tried to catch him. The officer allegedly fled the scene by car.

The group was able to note the plate number of his vehicle and track the officer down.

The officer was arrested last week. A search was also carried out at his home.

Laval police confirmed the arrest.

“An investigation is underway. However, we cannot comment on an employee’s personal file. We would like to emphasize that the events did not occur while the police officer was on duty,” a spokesperson for Laval police told CityNews.

The investigation is ongoing.
