By The Canadian Press

Four people, all from one vehicle, were taken to hospital following an accident that occurred Wednesday night in Montreal on the on-ramp connecting Highways 40 and 15.

According to information provided by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the lives of two of the injured remained in danger Thursday morning at the hospital.

The accident, which involved a single vehicle, occurred around 1:30 a.m. on the on-ramp connecting Highway 40 westbound to Highway 15 southbound.

At that point, the vehicle reportedly struck a wall. Its four occupants were seriously injured, the provincial police force reported.

The driver of the vehicle is a man in his 20s. Its passengers, two women and a man, range in age from 18 to 35.

SQ reconstructionists were deployed to the scene to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Preliminary findings suggest that speed may have played a role in this accident.

“A blood sample was requested from the driver to determine if his ability to drive could have been impaired,” said SQ spokesperson Sergeant Camille Savoie.
