Man stabbed and killed in Montreal

A 34-year-old man died after being stabbed in Montreal overnight from Thursday to Friday. Police are still searching for a suspect.
According to Montreal Police (SPVM), the attack took place late in the evening near the intersection of Rouen and Dézéry streets, in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood.
The man, who was injured in the lower body by a sharp object, was found around 12:50 a.m. a few blocks away. He was taken to a hospital, where his life wad believed to be in danger. In the morning the SPVM confirmed that the man died in results to his injuries.

Overnight, the SPVM was unable to comment on the circumstances surrounding the attack, but could confirm that no suspects had been immediately arrested.
A security perimeter has been set up around the crime scene so that it can be analyzed by investigators and forensic technicians.
“Checks will be conducted on possible surveillance cameras located near the scene,” said Officer Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.
This is the fifth homicide in Montreal in 2025.
The investigation into this case is ongoing, and was transferred to the SPVM’s major crimes unit.
