La Fontaine tunnel closing Friday night for repairs

Drivers in Montreal can expect night closures in both directions of Highway 25, including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, during the weekend of March 21.

The ramp leading from Highway 40 westbound to Highway 25 southbound will also be closed from Friday night into Saturday.

These closures are required to carry out work related to the tunnel’s electrical and communication systems. Maintenance work is also planned on Highway 25.

A complete closure of Curatteau Street between Notre-Dame Street and access from exit 3 (Notre-Dame Street/Hochelaga Street) of Highway 25 northbound is also planned during the nights of Thursday to Friday and Sunday to Monday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • The entrances to this section will be closed 30 minutes before the highway is completely closed.
  • Souligny Avenue eastbound, between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets, will be closed 30 minutes before the highway is completely closed.

  • Complete closure of Highway 25 toward the South Shore (including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel) between exit 4 – Montréal (downtown) / Pont J.-Cartier and the entrance from Île Charron.
    • The entrances to this section will be closed 30 minutes before the highway is completely closed.
    • Souligny Avenue eastbound, between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets, will be closed 30 minutes before the highway is completely closed.
