"We’re still waiting for ongoing investigation from the police,” said Shaikh Imran Shariff, Imam of Mosquée Madani, a month after 20-year-old Mouaade Fakhoury was shot dead in Ahuntsic-Cartierville. He says the family still doesn't have answers.

The Arab-Muslim community in Montreal continues to mourn after the death of a 20-year-old man last month.

Mouaade Fakhoury is the city’s fourth murder victim of the year – he was shot outside his home on Feb. 19 in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

Fakhoury was hit with at least one bullet to his upper body.

“It’s been over a month today that our dear beloved student Mouaade Fakhoury passed away, got shot and got killed mercilessly. The family is still looking for, we’re still waiting for ongoing investigation from the police,” said Shaikh Imran Shariff, Imam of Mosquée Madani.

Police have not revealed any motive in connection to this case – or made any arrests so far.

Shariff says his parents are denouncing reported allegations that he had ties to gang-related activities.

“He was a very pious kid,” said Shariff. “He was a very religious kid, not only in the mosque but he was going to school, he had a job, he had a bright future in front of him. He was taking off in business and marriage was on his plate in the next couple of months. The entire family bought tickets to go back to Morocco to celebrate a humongous amount of marriage. So, in the police activity there’s no real updates but we’re still looking for answers of why his name was smeared.”

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
