The 26th edition of the Week of Action Against Racism and for Equal Opportunities is kicking off Friday.
It’s held from March 21 to March 31.
Community members and leaders from all walks of life are invited to take part in an expansive online and in-person series of events for the “Week of Action Against Racism and for Equal Opportunities (SACR).”
The launch takes place today at 1:30 p.m. with an event at Montreal’s City Hall and the theme for this year’s edition is: “Quebec, a welcoming society? Challenges and solutions for a society without racism.”
More than 20 events are planned across several cities throughout the province. The events include exhibitions, round tables, conferences, workshops, debates, intercultural collaboration, and artistic activities.
“The path in building a healthy, vibrant, and dynamic society is through cultivating relationships with all members of Quebec society,” says SACR president, Frantz Voltaire.
“We may come from different backgrounds, but our collective strength is our intercultural diversity, and it is our deep love for Quebec that brings all of us together.”

“Not only to focus on the problem of inequality, but also on the necessity of coalition,” said Voltaire. “Coalition between all the factions of the groups because we defend the right of minorities, but not only the minority, defending the right of the minority is defending the right of women, is defending the right of the First Nation, is defending the right of the people who fight against climate change.”
“We organize this week for the equality of opportunity for everybody,” he added. “I think it’s important in this time to remember that to live in peace.”
