Montreal police investigate vehicle fire in Villeray

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating a fire that targeted a vehicle late Sunday evening in the borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension.

Police say they got a 911 call around 11:15 p.m. about a vehicle on fire in the outdoor parking lot of a sports centre on de Normanville Street, near Jarry Street East.

When police arrived on scene, firefighters from the Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (SIM) had already brought the fire under control.

“No incendiary materials were found on the scene,” said a spokesperson for the SPVM

The vehicle suffered significant damage and is considered a total loss.

The investigation has been transferred to the SPVM’s arson section to shed light on the circumstances of this event.
