1 dead, 4 injured in Highway 40 accident west of Montreal

A 19-year-old man is dead and four others are injured after a car accident early Wednesday morning in Vaudreuil-Dorion, just west of Montreal.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) said the incident occured around 5:00 a.m. when the five were traveling west on Highway 40 in a minivan where the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

According to initial information, the driver lost control of his vehicle and ended up in the central fold,” a SQ spokesperson told CityNews. “A total of 5 people were in the vehicle.”

All were transported to hospital where shortly after, the 19-year-old was pronounced dead.

The SQ said that the four others have non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
