Exo adapted transport agents holding one-day strike Thursday

The union representing Exo employees who work in paratransit will hold a one-day walkout on Thursday.

The strike will take place on March 27, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

The union, affiliated with the CSN, represents paratransit agents, administrative agents, paratransit coordinators, and paratransit planning coordinators.

The Administrative Labour Tribunal has just ruled that the amended list of essential services to be maintained was sufficient to ensure the health and safety of the public during the strike day.

Thus, “during the strike day, it is understood that only trips motivated by a medical (health) reason will be maintained; other trips motivated by other reasons are therefore canceled,” states the tribunal’s decision on essential services.

“These are the most vulnerable citizens of 81 small and medium-sized municipalities who rely on Exo’s paratransit service,” stated Administrative Judge Geneviève Drapeau in her decision.

The administrative judge added that “this is a one-day strike and that, in other circumstances, the essential services to be maintained could be different.”

This service provides more than 700,000 trips per year. Nearly 9,600 users meet the eligibility criteria of the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable to benefit from the service, the court’s decision states.
