By News Staff

Over 100 firefighters were mobilized to battle a major fire in an industrial building in Montreal’s Saint-Leonard borough on Sunday afternoon.

As of 11:30 a.m. on Monday morning, the likelihood of the fire escalating was unlikely, as the fourth alarm response was still ongoing.

“Firefighters have been working non-stop for almost 24 hours,” said Émilie Barbeau-Charlebois, spokesperson for the Montreal fire department. “At the peak of the response, more than 120 firefighters and 45 units were on site.”

“Currently, 20 firefighters and 7 trucks are on site,” she said.

According to initial information, the blaze reportedly began shortly after noon on Sunday in a two-story industrial building located on Du Creusot Street near Magloire Street.
