Longueuil Police (SPAL) confirmed that the fire that set a Tesla vehicle in flames Monday morning in Longueuil was a criminal act.

In a statement, the SPAL stated that the vehicle was the victim of vandalism and authorities are continuing their search for the suspect.

As of Wednesday morning, no suspects have been arrested.

No one was injured but the car was a total loss due to the fire.

At around 2:30 a.m. Monday, the SPAL was called to assist the Longueuil Fire department (SSIAL) on Saint-Charles Street west.

Tesla has been the target of criminal acts and protests around the world since owner Elon Musk’s affiliation with the Trump administration.
