A new freezing rain system began Wednesday, crossing Ontario from west to east before making its way into Quebec.

Environment Canada had issued freezing rain warnings for the western and central parts of the province.

According to the federal agency, the weather system will bring a few millimeters of freezing rain, ranging from 1 mm to 5 mm depending on the region.

The precipitation is expected to begin as snow before turning into freezing rain. As temperatures continue to rise, the freezing rain will give way to rain.

This system’s passage comes just days after another storm, which severely affected Ontario. As of Wednesday morning, 214,000 Hydro One customers were still without power.

In Quebec, freezing rain on Sunday also caused power outages, especially in the Laurentians and Lanaudière regions, but Hydro-Québec was able to reconnect its affected customers on Monday.

In eastern Quebec, snow is expected to predominate on Thursday, which could turn into freezing rain at times. Snow accumulations could reach 15 centimeters in some areas.

As for Montreal, daytime high of 16°C on Thursday.

Then sunshine to end the work week, with a high of 11°C.

Rain expected on Saturday and Sunday — then a mix of sun and cloud for Monday.
