Montreal police arrest serial sexual harassment suspect with public’s help

Police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a series of sexual harassment incidents in multiple Montreal neighbourhoods last year.

The SPVM was investigating seven separate events in which a suspect approached victims from behind and performed inappropriate sexual acts, including touching, before fleeing.

Police say they happened between August and October in the Plateau-Mont-Royal, Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie and Saint-Léonard boroughs.

Authorities say the 25-year-old suspect was arrested in Repentigny on March 25. He faces charges of sexual assault, voyeurism, and attempted break and enter. He has been released with a dozen court-imposed conditions.

The SPVM says tips from the public, which police solicited on March 18, helped lead to the suspect’s arrest.
