Multiple road closures for Montreal this weekend

Mobilité Montréal informs road users that “major disruptions” are expected this weekend, recommending that people plan their trips.

HONORÉ-MERCIER BRIDGE / ROUTE 138

From Saturday 3 a.m. to Monday 5 a.m.

Work will be carried out on the Honoré-Mercier bridge this weekend that will lead to some closures for road users, including repairing the slabs of the structure’s deck towards the South Shore, from Friday to Monday.

These interventions require the establishment of obstructions in the sector.

  • One lane available in each direction on the Honoré Mercier Bridge.
  • Complete closure of the entrance ramp and reserved lane from Airlie Street.

The detour routes will be marked with temporary signage.

VILLE-MARIE TUNNEL / ROUTE 136

From Friday 11 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.

In Montreal, complete closure of R-136 West in the tunnel, between Exit 5 (Robert-Bourassa Boulevard, Samuel-De Champlain Bridge) and the access to Rue du Fort.

Detour:

  • Exit 5, via Saint-Jacques Street to Robert-Bourassa Boulevard, A-10 East (Bonaventure), and Exit 4 to A-15 North / Turcot Interchange.
  • Via Saint-Antoine Street West and Guy Street North and René-Lévesque Boulevard West.
  • Trucks: via Guy Street South, Saint-Jacques Street, de la Montagne Street and René-Lévesque Boulevard West.

Mobilité Montréal warns road users to avoid the area or plan ahead as there is a “significant risk of congestion.”

DÉCARIE HIGHWAY / TURCOT INTERCHANGE

From Friday 11:00 p.m. to Saturday 9:30 a.m.

In Montreal, complete closure of A-15 South between Exit 63-W (A-20 West, Airport) and the De la Vérendrye Boulevard access.

Detour:

  • Via the ramp to A-20 West, U-turn at Exit 65 (Angrignon Boulevard), A-20 East / R-136 East, and Exit 2 toward Saint-Jacques Street and Atwater Avenue South.
  • Trucks (+4 m), via Exit 4 toward Saint-Jacques Street and A-10 East (Bonaventure).

Girouard Avenue access:
Detour via Upper-Lachine Road, Crowley Street, A-15 North access, Exit 66 toward Côte-Saint-Luc Road and A-15 South / main detour. Trucks: From Sherbrooke Street eastbound, via the A-15 North access and Exit 66, and westbound, via Girouard Avenue North, de Terrebonne Street, Côte-Saint-Luc Road, and A-15 South.

Turcot Interchange:
Ramps leading from A-20 East to A-15 North (Décarie) and A-15 South / Samuel De Champlain Bridge.

Detour:

  • Northbound, via the R-136 East ramp, Exit 3 to Guy Street, René-Lévesque Boulevard West, and access via du Fort Street to R-136 West.
  • Southbound, via Exit 2 to Saint-Jacques Street and Atwater Avenue.
  • Trucks: via Exit 4 to Saint-Jacques Street and A-10 East (Bonaventure).

The ramp leading from R-136 West to A-15 South:
Detour on the ramp, via the Saint-Rémi Street junction, des Tanneries Boulevard West, Notre-Dame Street, Monk Boulevard, Saint-Patrick Street, and De La Vérendrye Boulevard.

HIGHWAY 25 / LOUIS-HIPPOLYTE-LA FONTAINE TUNNEL

From Friday 11 p.m. to Saturday 8 a.m.

NORTHBOUND

Complete tunnel closure between Exit 90 (R-132) on A-20 West in Longueuil and the Sherbrooke Street access in Montreal.

Detour:

  • Via R-132 West, Exit 82 / Jacques-Cartier Bridge, downtown exit to De Lorimier Avenue South and Notre-Dame Street. Trucks, on Notre-Dame Street, via Pie-IX Boulevard and Sherbrooke Street.

Closure of the following 30 minutes before:

  • Ramps leading from R-132 East and West (exits 89-N) to A-25 North.
  • Eastbound detour: U-turn at Exit 137 (De Montarville Boulevard).
  • Access from Île-Charron Street
  • Detour: via A-25 South and R-132 West.

Note: Access to Île Charron from the Marie-Victorin Boulevard accesses to A-25 North has been rerouted.

A25, Louis-H.-La Fontaine tunnel – April 11 and 12, 2025 (CNW Group/Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility)

SOUTHBOUND

Complete closure of the tunnel between Exit 5 (Sherbrooke Street) in Montreal and R-132 in Longueuil.

Detour:

  • Via Hochelaga, Dickson South, and Notre-Dame Streets and Papineau Avenue / Jacques-Cartier Bridge. Trucks (+ 4.25 m), via de l’Assomption Boulevard, Sherbrooke Street, and Pie-IX Boulevard South.

Default closure 30 minutes before, accesses from Sherbrooke, Tellier, and des Futailles Streets.

Anjou Interchange: Closure of the ramp leading from A-40 West to A-25 South.
Detour is to continue on A-40 West and turn around at Exit 78 (Langelier Boulevard).
Souligny Avenue: Closure of the eastbound avenue between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand Streets. Detour: via Hochelaga Street.

Laviolette Bridge A55 in Trois-Rivières – FDS of April 11, 2025 (CNW Group/Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility)

LAVIOLETTE BRIDGE / HIGHWAY 55

From Friday 8:00 p.m. to Monday 6:30 a.m.

On the Laviolette Bridge, between Trois-Rivières and Bécancour, two of four lanes will be closed – one lane in each direction.

Default:

  • In Trois-Rivières, on Highway 55 North, Exit 181 (R-138, Notre-Dame Street, Gene-H.-Kruger Boulevard) and the Arthur-Rousseau Boulevard access to Highway 55 South will be closed.
  • In Bécancour, the A30 East and West / Godefroy Avenue access to Highway 55 North will be closed.

Note: Users coming from Montreal or Quebec City are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly if they wish to cross from one side of the St. Lawrence River to the other via Highways 20 or 40.

VIGER AVENUE

In Montreal, on Viger Avenue between Saint-Denis and De Bullion Streets, at the CHUM, a single traffic lane will be maintained starting Monday, April 14, until the end of June.

Work is under the responsibility of the City of Montreal, the Transport Ministry said.

TASCHEREAU BOULEVARD

In Longueuil, on Taschereau Boulevard West, at the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, access to Taschereau Boulevard West / La Prairie will be closed from Sunday 10:30 p.m. to Monday 5:00 a.m.

Detour:

  • Via Jacques-Cartier Bridge access, U-turn at the De Lorimier Avenue South exit, Papineau Avenue and Jacques-Cartier Bridge / access to R-134 West / La Prairie.

Work is under the responsibility of the JCCBI, the Transport Ministry said.

BONAVENTURE HIGHWAY

A reminder that:

  • At Peel Basin / Victoria Bridge, 1 out of 3 lanes are closed until December.
  • On Clément Bridge, contraflow traffic – 1 lane in each direction – until December.
  • Eastbound, Exit 5 (Île des Sœurs) closed until the end of May.

New commissioning phase, complete network closure, every Saturday and Sunday in April.
