Man arrested after alleged break-ins, assaults in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest

A 41-year-old man was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly breaking into three homes in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest borough and assaulting the female occupants.

According to the SPVM, officers responded to 911 calls and arrested the suspect as he fled on Saint-Antoine Street West.

He has been charged with breaking and entering, strangulation, sexual assault, and forcible confinement. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

The break-ins occurred within a 20-minute span on Tuesday on Marin and Walker avenues.

In one instance, the suspect reportedly strangled a victim before fleeing. In another, he allegedly committed sexual acts before the victim managed to escape.

Police say they have increased foot patrols and conducted door-to-door visits to reassure residents.

The SPVM’s Sexual Assault Division is continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact 911 or Info-Crime Montréal at 514-393-1133.
