Man found dead near Montreal police headquarters

A man was found dead on the steps of the Esplanade de la Place des Arts, near SPVM headquarters, early Friday morning in Montreal’s downtown area.
Police confirming this is the 11th murder of the year on the island of Montreal.
Around 5:15 a.m., a passerby found a man unconscious, stabbed, near Saint-Urbain and Sainte-Catherine Street.
“He suffered unknown injuries to his lower body and was pronounced dead at the scene,” said SPVM spokesperson, Manuel Couture on Friday morning.
“We still have a lot to know about this event,” said Couture.
“Hopefully some cameras footage will show us a little bit what happened,” he added. “Was there a conflict or a problem? What happened exactly? So we don’t know yet.”
“I can comment on that it can happen everywhere in Montreal, unfortunately it was in front of our headquarters,” said Couture. “But we don’t know exactly where happened the incident, the only thing we know is that the person fell on the ground at this place.”
Major crime investigators will be looking into the circumstances surrounding this event.
No arrests have been made so far.
