STM maintenance workers going on one-day strike May 25

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) maintenance workers’ union has announced a one-day strike on May 25, “unless significant progress is made at the bargaining table.”
The 2,400 members of the union, which is affiliated with the CSN, work on bus and metro maintenance.
The union has a mandate for an unlimited general strike. May 25 would be its first day of strike action, if necessary.
The dispute concerns work schedules and the use of subcontracting. The wage issue has not yet been negotiated with the transit authority.
Essential services are usually maintained during public transit strikes in Montreal.
