Almost a quarter of the restaurants on Canada’s 100 Best list are from Montreal

By News Staff

The annual Top 100 list of Canada’s Best Restaurants has been released, and while Montreal missed the number-one spot this year, they dominated the charts.

Almost a quarter of the 100 restaurants on the list are located in the metropolis, including Mon Lapin — which has now been dethroned.

Montreal’s Mon Lapin in Little Italy topped the list in 2023 and 2024, but has now shifted to the number-two spot.

Here’s a look at the top 10:

  1. Restaurant Pearl Morissette (Jordan Station, ON)
  2. Mon Lapin (Montreal)
  3. Alo (Toronto)
  4. Edulis (Toronto)
  5. 20 Victoria (Toronto)
  6. Eight (Calgary)
  7. Beba (Montreal)
  8. Quetzal (Toronto)
  9. Published on Main (Vancouver)
  10. AnnaLena (Vancouver)

The 2025 list of exceptional eateries includes several Michelin-starred restaurants including Ontario’s Restaurant Pearl Morissette in first place.

“Restaurant Pearl Morissette is surrounded by orchards and apple trees, so apples are a common feature on our menu,” they wrote in a recent Instagram post.

“Even though the only bodies of water we have in Niagara are lakes and falls,” they said in another post. “Here at RPM we love working with seafood from both East and West coast of Canada.”

Editor-in-chief Jacob Richler and the team behind the rankings also announced their top 10 best new restaurants, led by Montreal’s Le Violon.

On this year’s list, the city placed 24 restaurants — with the province landing 29 in total.

As for second place Mon Lapin, their fascinating food-and-wine offerings are a must try in the city.

“Here are the treasures and keys of paradise,” they have written in their Instagram bio.

Reservations to the restaurant can be made online up to 30 days in advance — and they share the joy of discovering Montreal’s food gems too:

“Don’t forget to check out the neighbours,” they wrote in a recent social post. “Our neighbourhood is incredible, full of must-see destinations.”
