Senior in critical condition after collision in Montreal

A 78-year-old woman remains in critical condition in hospital on Tuesday morning after she was struck by a vehicle in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough on Monday night.
Montreal police (SPVM) said officers responded to a 911 call around 6 p.m. concerning the collision at the intersection of Pierre-Gadois Street and Bélanger Street.
“Seems that the driver, a man of 25 years old did a maneuver that he was backing up on Pierre-Gadois and at this moment when he was backing up came into collision with that pedestrian,” said SPVM spokesperson, Jean-Pierre Brabant.
The 78-year-old was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
“We had investigators from the accident squad yesterday onsite and at this moment we met with the driver,” said Brabant.
According to the SPVM, there are no accusation at this moment against the driver.
An investigation is ongoing.
