18-year-old shot during attempted robbery in Montreal

An 18-year-old man was shot around 4 a.m. Saturday in Montreal.

Officers with the Montreal police (SPVM) were called to the intersection of Sherbrooke Street and d’Iberville Street, in the Ville-Marie borough, following reports of a gunshot.

According to initial witness accounts, the victim was approached by at least one suspect who allegedly attempted to rob him. An altercation ensued, during which a shot was fired, striking the victim in the lower body.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and has not been located. The victim was taken to hospital, and his life is not believed to be in danger.

The SPVM established a security perimeter and found at least one shell casing on the ground.
