A two-alarm fire broke out Monday afternoon in a residential building in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough, prompting the evacuation of three families.
The blaze occurred in a two-storey building located at the corner of Robertine-Barry Street and Alice-Nolin Street. The structure houses four units, one of which was vacant at the time of the incident.
Approximately 60 firefighters from the Montreal fire department (SIM) responded to the scene. One resident was taken to hospital, while the displaced families are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Hydro-Québec temporarily cut power to the area during the emergency response. While the fire is now nearly under control, efforts to fully extinguish it are still ongoing. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause.
