Traffic signaller killed in workplace accident at Saint-Jérôme construction site

A 66-year-old traffic signaller has died in Saint-Jérôme in what police there are describing as a workplace accident on a construction site Wednesday morning.

The Service de police de la Ville de Saint-Jérôme (SPVSJ) says the woman was declared dead at the scene. Officials are not revealing her identity “out of respect for the family.”

Police say it happened around 7:45 a.m. near the intersection of Gauthier and Danis streets.

Authorities do not suspect any criminal activity based on initial findings.

The Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) is investigating.

The area surrounding the accident remained closed to traffic by late Wednesday morning.
