2 families lose their homes in NDG fire: reports

By News Staff

Two families reportedly lost their homes after a fire broke out in a residential building in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce overnight.

The fire started around 1 a.m. on the second floor of the two-storey building on Draper Avenue, the Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (SIM) confirmed to CityNews.

The blaze reportedly then spread to the rest of the building, forcing the evacuation of the occupants. Several firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

Due to the extent of the damages, two families will not be able to return to their homes. A spokesperson for the SIM say the Red Cross was not contacted, “which leads us to believe that the families relocated on their own.”

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
