One dead in Île-Perrot house fire

One person died in a house fire in Île-Perrot, in Montérégie, on Thursday.

Around 3 p.m., emergency services responded to the residence located on 21st Avenue. The body of a person was found there once the fire was under control, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirmed.

Neither the age nor the gender of the victim were revealed by the police.

“The identification of the victim will be made to the satisfaction of the coroner,” said Laurie Avoine, spokesperson for the SQ.

Another person was at the scene of the incident when emergency services arrived. They did not suffer any injuries, according to Avoine.

An investigation is underway to understand the circumstances surrounding the fire.
