A minor fire broke out at one of the buildings of Spa Le Finlandais on Labelle Blvd. in Rosemère on Tuesday morning.
The Blainville Fire Department responded to the scene after receiving a call from a woman around 6:50 a.m. reporting the blaze.
“There was a witness who heard a BANG,” said Claude Deschuymer, director of Blainville’s fire department. “She started to see smoke coming from behind the building.”
When firefighters arrived to the scene, they realized that it was the main electrical power of the building that exploded. They explained that this ignited a fire on the roof and attic of the spa.
About 20 firefighters fought the blaze.
“We rapidly extinguished the fire on the inside of the roof,” said Deschuymer. “The damage of the building was limited on the roof.”
A Hydro-Québec vehicle was dispatched to check the power supply.

“Due to a power outage that occurred during ongoing construction work near our establishment, we regret to announce the exceptional closure of Spa Le Finlandais for Tuesday, June 3 only,” the spa told CityNews.
“This outage unfortunately caused minor material damage to our facilities,” the added.
Good news, the spa explained: “We plan to reopen our doors tomorrow, Wednesday, June 4, at our regular hours.”
“We thank you for your understanding,” they added. “And look forward to welcoming our guests back tomorrow.”
All guests who had a reservation for the spa today will be contacted by a member of the spa’s team individually.
No one was injured. This is the third fire to break out in one of the spa buildings in recent years.
