Two earthquakes rattle Quebec region early Tuesday morning

A pair of earthquakes struck Quebec early Tuesday morning in Matane, in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, about 650 kilometers East of Montreal.

The initial quake, with a magnitude of 3.3, occurred around 3 a.m., followed by an aftershock registering 3.7 in magnitude roughly 40 minutes later.

According to Earthquakes Canada, the tremors were reportedly also lightly felt as far as Baie-Comeau.
