After arriving in Montreal from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in 1970 with hope in her heart and determination to build a better future, Keeren Virginia Williams never imagined the incredible journey ahead.
Now, surrounded by her 10 children, 23 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren, she is celebrating her 100th birthday on June 17 — a milestone that reflects a life of resilience, unconditional love and kindness.
“I feel great turning 100,” Keeren told CityNews. “I put my life in God’s hand and thank the Lord for keeping me.”

“The early years were not easy,” explained her daughter, Jasmine Miller. “Adapting to a foreign culture, and working long hours to build a foundation in a new land with little support.”
A devoted seamstress and homemaker, Keeren dedicated her life to honouring God and raising her children.
“She is known for her kindness,” said her son, Trevor Williams. “Despite raising 10 children and many grandchildren, she opened her home and welcomed many others, extended family, and strangers alike.”
Born on June 17, 1925, Keeren said that through her century on earth, she wouldn’t change anything about her beautiful life.
“Don’t let anything bother you,” she said, while explaining her greatest advice. “Life is good.”
In 1952, Keeren married Milton Williams, and together they built a wonderful life together.
“Growing up in a family of 10 kids was chaotic, loud, and absolutely beautiful,” said Jasmine. “There was never a dull moment in our house.”
“We learned to share everything, from food and space to responsibilities and dreams,” she added. “Our home was always the place for all of our friends. But most importantly, we learned what it meant to be part of a team.”
And Keeren, the heart of it all.
“Keeping us grounded, prayed up and loved,” her children explained. “She taught us to never give up, to treat people with kindness, and respect and to always be thankful.”
And the birthday girl is filled with gratitude as well.
“It was great seeing all my family at my birthday party on Saturday,” she said. “I was surrounded by my family and many people I love dearly.”
“Saturday was magical,” added Trevor. “It wasn’t just a party, it was a celebration of a life well-lived and a woman deeply loved.”

Generations of family, friends, and community came together to honour her legacy at this party. The moment, described as emotional and unforgettable.
“There were laughs, tears, old stories, and moments that will stay with us forever,” Trevor recalled. “She was glowing, and that meant everything.”
As Keeren celebrates 100 years, her family and the community honour not only a milestone but a legacy.
“Happy 100th Birthday, Keeren,” her family said. “We’re so blessed to call (you) Mom, and we hope the way we live our lives continues to honour (yours).”
