Officials from Environment Canada have confirmed that two tornadoes hit Quebec’s Eastern Townships region on Thursday.
Danville and Lefebvre were hit with heavy rains and strong winds that violently uprooted trees, ripped the roofs off buildings, and knocked down power lines.
In Danville – a town with around 3,900 residents – 50 to 100 millimetres of rain came down in just 20 minutes.
Environment Canada says that they are still investigating the strength of the two tornadoes.
Officials also say that a possible tornado could have taken place in the La Guadeloupe area, an hour and a half south of Quebec City.
