REM, road closures expected over the weekend

By CityNews Staff

Transport Quebec is warning those looking to get around Montreal that they can expect more road and train closures over the weekend.

On top of the ongoing construction and closure of the Lafontaine tunnel, Montrealers can expect closures along the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM), as well as the Bonaventure Expressway, Côte-de-Liesse Road East, and Jean-Milot Street in Montreal (LaSalle arr.).

REM

The REM will be starting a new phase of commissioning, which will completely close the train line on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29.

Check their website for more details and for shuttle bus schedules.

Bonaventure Expressway

The Bonaventure Expressway will have a lane closed in each direction along Peel Basin / Victoria Bridge level, as well as traffic down to one lane in each direction on the Clément Bridge.

Côte-de-Liesse Road East

Additionally, in Mount Royal, Côte-de-Liesse Road East, at Lucerne Road, will have one of two lanes closed from 9 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

Lucerne Road northbound will also be partially closed between Glengarry Avenue and Côte-de-Liesse Road East during the same time frame.

Côte-de-Liesse Road East, upstream of Rockland Road, will also be down to one lane until November.

Jean-Milot Street

Transport Quebec also says that in LaSalle, Jean-Milot Street will be completely closed in both directions between Lafleur Avenue and Newman Boulevard.

This closure will last until July 11, unless weather conditions change that.
