SUV destroyed by arson in Montreal’s Ahuntsic

A vehicle was set on fire on Friday morning in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.

Montreal Police (SPVM) received 911 calls around 2 a.m. about a burning vehicle parked on Larose Avenue, near Sauvé Street.

When police arrived on the scene, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) were bringing the flames under control.

The fire caused significant damage to the SUV, but the property was not affected, according to police, who also said that no one was injured.

“Some witnesses saw one or multiple suspects leave the scene before the arrival of police officers,” said SPVM spokesperson, Julien Lévesque.

No incendiary objects were found at the scene, the vehicle was towed for examination.

An investigation is ongoing from the SPVM’s arson unit.
