Mirabel Mayor Patrick Charbonneau died suddenly on Tuesday. He was only 46 years old.
The information was confirmed by the City of Mirabel, which, in a press release, indicated only that “everything suggests that it was due to natural causes.”
Patrick Charbonneau indicated at the end of April that he would seek a second term in the November elections. At the time, he said he wanted to continue the work already underway, this time with the benefit of the experience he had acquired over the past few years.
As recently as June 4, he presented three new candidates to carry the colours of his party, Action Mirabel.
His colleague Guillaume Tremblay, mayor of Mascouche, posted a message on his Facebook page, describing him as “a man dedicated to his community. He carried out his city’s projects with passion and enthusiasm.”
“Patrick, you’re leaving far too soon. It’s a harsh reminder to enjoy every moment of life. Have a good last trip, my friend!” wrote Mayor Tremblay.
In its press release, the City of Mirabel announced that it will pay “a heartfelt tribute to Patrick Charbonneau, a man respected and loved by all. His dedication, his passion for his community, and his leadership had a profound impact on the people of Mirabel and the City’s employees. In these difficult times, Mirabel expresses its solidarity and sincere support to his family, his loved ones, and all those who knew him. Flags on municipal buildings will be flown at half-mast.”
Details regarding the funeral will be communicated later.
