Man in critical condition after single-vehicle collision in St-Lucien

By The Canadian Press

A man is in a critical condition after a single-vehicle collision in the small municipality of Saint-Lucien, near Drummondville, in the Centre-du-Québec region.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision on Route des Rivières, an old tourist route in the Mauricie region, at around 9:30 p.m. on Friday evening.

“The driver, a local man in his forties, was alone in the vehicle. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition,” Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesman Sergeant Frédéric Deshaies said in an interview.

The exact circumstances of the accident have yet to be clarified, but it is possible that impaired driving was involved.

“A collision investigator has been dispatched to analyse the scene in order to establish the causes and circumstances surrounding this event. A blood sample was also taken to establish the driver’s level of intoxication,” said Sergeant Deshaies.

The SQ investigation is continuing.
