30-year-old man shot in Montreal park, police investigating

A 30-year-old man was shot on Monday evening in a Montreal park in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough.

Montreal Police (SPVM) were called to Ovila-Légaré Park after gunshots were heard at around 10 p.m., on Pie-IX Blvd., near 47th Street.

When officers arrived, they located the victim who had gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body.

“He was transported to hospital,” said a SPVM spokesperson, Manuel Couture. “There is no danger for his life.”

A conflict may have escalated between the victim and the suspect, who fled on foot before police arrived, the SPVM said.

No arrests have been made so far, an investigation is ongoing.
