Police investigate house fire after possible explosion in Boisbriand

A major house fire broke out in Boisbriand, north of Montreal, on Tuesday evening.

Thérèse-de Blainville police say it received several 911 calls at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday about a possible explosion on 1re Avenue.

Officials say the home was engulfed in flames upon their arrival. The neighbourhood was evacuated as a safety precaution and power was cut off in the nearby area.

More than 60 firefighters were on the scene.

The home was completely destroyed due to the fire.

No injures were reported. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, as the investigation is underway.
