REM expected to have further service interruptions mid-August

The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) services are currently interrupted across the entire network to allow for the connection of new network antennas to the west of Montreal.

REM officials say further tests will be necessary, which will result in an early closure of the REM at 8:30 p.m. on weekday evenings until the new lines to Deux-Montagnes and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue are put into service.

A complete service interruption is also planned for the three weekends following the resumption of service on Aug. 18 between Brossard and Central Station.

“We still have a lot of work to do,” REM said on social media. “We will be carrying out some work related to our operating systems over the following weekends, during which service will be interrupted: Aug. 23-24, Aug. 30-31, and Sept. 6 and 7.”

The REM will be accessible between Brossard and Central Station between 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on weekdays starting Aug. 18.

Officials have not yet announced the opening of the network’s two new branches this fall.

Shuttles are available to users until then to allow them to travel between the different stations.

There will be up-to-date information posted on the REM’s website.
