12-pound lobster in Montreal area going viral

A 12.34-pound lobster has gone viral following a social media post earlier this week.
The lobster, named Esdras, ended up at Les Deux Gaspésiens fish market in Mirabel, which has commonly seen larger lobsters, but nothing over 12 pounds before.
Les Deux Gaspésiens posted a photo of the 5’1″ lobster on social media. That post got over 500 comments within the first hour.
Due to the size and weight, the lobster is believed to be in its early 50s.
Despite the large catch, Esdras is a long way off the largest recorded lobster, which came back in 1977, when a 44-pound lobster was caught off the coast of Nova Scotia.
