A driver has died on a race track in Saint-Pie

A man in his thirties died Friday evening after losing control of his vehicle on a race track in Saint-Pie, in the Montérégie region.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a race track on Petit Rang Saint-François shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday, following a loss of control in a curve on the track, reported Sergeant Frédéric Deshaies, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Two people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The driver, a man in his thirties from Drummondville, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The passenger suffered serious injuries and was also taken to the hospital, but his life is not believed to be in danger.

An investigator and a reconstructionist from the SQ went to the scene to analyze the scene and establish the circumstances of the event. The investigation is ongoing.
