City of Montreal lifts watering ban that affected several areas of West Island

The City of Montreal has lifted the water ban that was in effect for several boroughs on the West Island.
On Monday afternoon, the City said it’s no longer necessary to impose restrictions on lawn watering and other water use in L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève and Pierrefonds-Roxboro boroughs, as well as in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Senneville and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.
The bans had been effect since Aug. 11 and 12 because of low levels in the Rivière des Prairies caused by “extreme heat and dry conditions.”
It had also affected the use of sprinklers or automatic watering systems, watering lawns, washing cars, and filling existing swimming pools.
Although the situation has been restored, the City is encouraging residents to use their water responsibly.
