Man killed in single-vehicle crash on Bonaventure Highway in Montreal

By The Canadian Press

A driver in his 40s lost his life on Saturday morning after hitting an impact attenuator on the Bonaventure Expressway (A-10) in Montreal.

Emergency services were called at around 4 a.m. to the scene of the single-vehicle accident near kilometre 3 of the highway heading east.

“He apparently crashed and the driver was ejected,” said Laurie Avoine, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), adding that the victim was alone in the vehicle, according to initial reports.

The cause of the accident was unknown at the time and is being investigated by the SQ.

“Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A police officer trained in collision investigation went to the scene to clarify the circumstances of the event. The traffic lanes were closed for some time,” said Avoine.

The SQ investigation is ongoing.
