Over 90 firefighters were still putting out a fire on Sunday afternoon in a building in Montreal’s NDG that began in the morning.

According to the Montreal fire department (SIM), they responded to the blaze at around 9:05 a.m. in a three-storey residential building on Elmhurst Ave. near Harley Ave.

They added that the building was unoccupied and had no gas or electricity.

A third alarm was issued just after 10 a.m. by the SIM. They explained that as of 11:30 a.m. more than 90 firefighters were on the scene.

As of 5:30 p.m., the SIM told CityNews that the operation was still ongoing.

The building next door was evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

“To determine the cause of the fire, the investigation has been transferred to the SPVM,” the SIM told CityNews just before 8 p.m.

Adding that “the intervention is still in progress.”
