Lion Electric school buses cleared for service, student transportation resumes Monday

Starting Monday, all Lion Electric school buses will be back on the road after undergoing thorough inspections and repairs.

Some 1,200 Lion electric school buses were taken off the roads after one caught fire Sept. 9 and days later carriers were ordered not to put them back to protect the safety of both passengers and vehicles.

The Transportation Division English Montreal School Board wrote in a statement Sunday:

“Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are pleased to inform you that, as of tomorrow, Monday, September 22nd, all LION electric buses have been repaired, inspected, and cleared for operation. Regular student transportation will therefore resume, with all routes running according to their normal schedules. We sincerely thank you for your patience and cooperation over the past few days.”

With the fleet deemed safe, regular student transportation will resume as normal. All school routes will operate according to their standard schedules beginning Monday.
