Vehicle destroyed, home damaged in possible arson in Kirkland: SPVM

A vehicle was destroyed and a nearby home damaged after a fire broke overnight on Montreal’s West Island. Police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 12:45 a.m. Monday about the incident on Meridian Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, the Montreal fire department was already working to control the fire.

Police say the vehicle is considered a total loss, and significant damage was caused to the residence.

The vehicle is expected to be towed for expert examination. Police say incendiary materials were reportedly found near the scene.

The file has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad. The investigation is ongoing.

No arrests had been made in the case as of early Monday.
