RDP car fire linked to Laval Starbucks shooting: SQ

A vehicle found burned out in the early hours of Thursday morning in Rivière-des-Prairies is linked to the fatal high-profile shooting at a Starbucks in Laval Wednesday.

The vehicle was found burned around 3 a.m. in a parking lot on Joliot-Curie Street near Clément-Ader Avenue, SPVM media relations officer Raphaël Bergeron told CityNews.

That investigation has been turned over to the force’s arson squad. Police were called by firefighters after accelerants were reportedly found at the scene.

Despite various media reports, the SPVM would not confirm the vehicle belonged to the suspect or suspects in the shooting at a Starbucks coffee shop off Highway 440 that reportedly saw the alleged leader of a highly influential organized crime group gunned down in broad daylight.

The Sûreté du Québec would not confirm that information either but only said the car fire is linked to the shooting.
