Police investigating after body found on shore of Saint Lawrence River near Quebec City

A body was found Monday on the shore of the Saint Lawrence River in L’Ange-Gardien, east of Quebec City.

According to Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson Hugues Beaulieu, police officers were called near Sainte-Anne Blvd. at around 6 p.m. after a passerby discovered the body of a person.

Police officers reportedly immediately confirmed the death.

“An investigation is underway to determine the identity of the person, which will be done to the satisfaction of the coroner, as well as the cause and circumstances of death, which are currently unclear,” Beaulieu told The Canadian Press.

However, he was unable to specify whether the body was a man or a woman.
