Soraya Martinez Ferrada remains the frontrunner to become Montreal’s next mayor, holding a nine-point lead over of her nearest rival – according to a new poll.
Ferrada, the leader of Ensemble Montréal, would receive 21 per cent of the vote if an election were held today. Projet Montréal Leader Luc Rabouin would get 12 per cent of the vote.
That’s according to a new Léger poll conducted on behalf of CTV News Montreal.
It shows Craig Sauvé, the leader of Transition Montréal, would finish third (eight per cent). Action Montréal Leader Gilbert Thibodeau (seven per cent) and Futur Montréal’s Jean-François Kacou (two per cent) round out the candidates.
But the survey also shows most Montrealers remain undecided about who to vote for, with 42 per cent of respondents saying they do not know who to elect – or refused to answer – when going to the polls Nov. 2.
Among decided voters, most say Ferrada’s Ensemble Montréal is best suited to handle issues like fighting crime, managing the city’s finances, managing flood risks and supporting small businesses.
The poll was carried out online among 500 people in Montreal from Sept. 26-30. For comparison purposes, a probability sample of this size yields a margin of error no greater than plus or minus 4.4 per cent or 19 times out of 20.
