35-year-old St-Lazare pedestrian killed in hit-and-run

A pedestrian was the victim of a fatal hit-and-run Saturday night in Saint-Lazare, in the Montérégie region.

It happened around 8:15 p.m. on Bédard Ave., near Saint-Louis Road.

“According to preliminary information, a vehicle collided with a 35-year-old pedestrian, and the driver of the vehicle continued on without rendering assistance,” said Sergeant Marythé Bolduc, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The 35-year-old woman was in critical condition when she was transported to the hospital.

“Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead in the evening,” said Sergeant Bolduc.

“The Major Crimes Investigation Unit is on the case to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding the incident. Reconstructionists from the Sûreté du Québec also arrived last night (Saturday) to analyze the scene,” said the SQ spokesperson.

Shortly before 9 a.m. on Sunday, no arrests had been made, but the Sûreté du Québec’s investigation is ongoing.
