Major collision between two heavy trucks on Highway 20 in Vaudreuil-Dorion

A serious collision between two heavy trucks occurred early Wednesday morning on Highway 20 near Harwood Road in Vaudreuil-Dorion, leaving at least one person injured.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the crash happened around 6 a.m. Emergency crews used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate one of the occupants trapped inside a vehicle.

SQ officers remain on the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities are urging motorists to avoid the area.

Highway 20 westbound is currently closed between Saint-Charles Ave. and Harwood Road, causing significant traffic congestion. As of 7:30 a.m., traffic was backed up as far as Terrasse-Vaudreuil.

SQ says the closure is expected to remain in effect for some time.
